ABOUT RACHEL CHUA

Rachel Chua is a hobbyist photographer, a foodie, a minimalist, and a health and wellness enthusiast. She also occasionally travel and long dreamt to live off-the-grid.

Born on the 16th of December 1994, she is a Filipino of Chinese descent who grew up in a small yet emerging town of Mangaldan, Pangasinan. In 2011-2016, she studied at the University of the Philippines Baguio and earned a bachelor's in Language and Literature. Since then, she developed a love for reading dystopian novels, psychological fiction, and young adult literature. She spends a significant amount of time on the web more than she likes to admit. She has a current fascination with obsession novels, lesbian, french films, and Korean dramas. After graduation, she worked as a Data Analyst in Accenture for less than a year. In 2017, she got a job as an admin assistant at UNILAB where she worked for almost 2 years.

She identifies as an INTJ personality, relying much on ideas and concepts rather than emotion, facts, and details. She has a greater sense of perfectionism and sheer willpower.  Paradoxically, she has episodes of insurmountable laziness.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Due to her obsession with losing weight, Rachel has learned a lot about health and wellness. She has tried several diet fads and exercise, some work and some didn't. She hates to admit but she never liked going to the gym. She though enjoys going on eco-trails and thinks this counts as a good exercise. Yoga, stretching, pilates, and trips to the mall are her go-to exercises.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Back in 2016, a photo she posted on EyeEm Contest was selected out of 18,000 submissions from professional photographers and hobbyist photographers alike. The same photo was featured in Berlin, Germany. She thought this was one of the talents she never knew she had. Since then, she developed her love for photography.

TRAVEL AND CULTURE

Her go-to travel local destinations are always close to nature, art, and culturally-rich cities. She also likes going abroad to widen her perspective. She believes that traveling is not just about going places, taking Instagram-worthy photos (although that counts as well). Travelling is about learning people and cultures and practices outside your own. Traveling is discovering a part of yourself that only you will discover when you travel.

MINIMALISM

It's only last year that she found out about minimalism. She came across a Netflix documentary titled The Minimalists. Since then, her interest deepened on the subject and has been practicing it ever since.

NETFLIX AND CHILL

She knows Netflix and Chill don't count as a good past-time on the list. This is an ever saturated hobby to even mention. But what can a girl do when she's broke and can't travel?
